5. Today, many people abhor the name of God.

6. You say, “How come?”

7. By swearing by the name of God, and, most often, they are lying.

8. They swear by the name of God, just to get out of trouble.

9. Now, compare this attitude of abusing the name of God with the way people of old have felt about the name of God.

10. The Book of Leviticus tells us
利未记一书告诉我们：
11. that the name of God was held so sacred that it was pronounced only once a year.

12. The priest would say the name of God only on the great Day of Atonement.
祭司只有在赎罪日的时候，才会宣讲神的名。
13. In fact, God’s people came to value God’s name so much that, when the scribes were copying the words of the Scripture, when they came to the name “Jehovah,” they would stop and bathe all over;
事实上，神的子民如此尊重神的名，以至于当文士在誊抄经文，写到神的名“耶和华”时，他们会停下来，先去洗浴洁净自己。
14. then, they would return and begin to write again with another pen that had never been used before.

15. They did this to show respect for the name of Jehovah.

16. To them, the name of Jehovah was so awesome.

17. The name of Jehovah was so covenantal.
耶和华的名显示祂是立约的神。
18. The name of Jehovah was so promise-keeping;
耶和华的名显示祂是信实守约的神；
19. and they could not misuse the name of the Lord;
所以他们不能妄称神的名；
20. and that is why the Third Commandment is unlike the first two.

21. For those of you who are just joining us, we have been studying the Ten Commandments.

22. In the first two Commandments, God says, “I am the Lord your God. You shall have no other gods before Me...”

23. and, then, in the Third Commandment, the Word of God said,

24. “You shall not misuse the name of the Lord your God, for the Lord will not hold him guiltless.”

25. Why do you think God switches into the third person in the Third Commandment?
你想想为什么，在第三诫中，神转换成第三人称的身份讲话呢？
26. It is because God wants to draw attention to who He is.
因为神希望我们能专注于祂是谁。
27. God wants to draw attention to His covenant name,
神愿意我们的注意力，集中在祂的盟约之名上，
28. which is Yahweh, or Jehovah, or Elohim.
无论是耶和华，还是伊罗兴。
29. This was the name that God gave Moses when Moses asked the Lord what would he tell His people.
这名字是摩西问上帝，如何告诉祂的百姓时，神所给的名字。
30. Moses said, “Lord, when I go to your people in Egypt, who can I tell them sent me?”
摩西说：“主啊，我到埃及你的百姓那里，我要对他们说，是谁打发我来的呢？”
31. and the Lord said to him,

32. “The Lord Jehovah, the God of your fathers...”
“耶和华你们祖宗的神……”
33. and “Yahweh” means, “I Am who I Am.”
耶和华的意思是，“我是自有永有的。”
34. Why is this so important?
为什么这是如此重要呢？
35. It is very important because it speaks to us about God’s self-existence.
它的重要就在于，这告诉我们神是自有的。
36. It speaks to us about God’s supreme sovereignty in the universe.
这告诉了我们，神是整个宇宙的至高君王。
37. Yahweh is more than just a name.
耶和华不仅仅只是一个名字；
38. God’s very identity is in His name.
神的每一个特性都包含在祂的名字里。
39. To most of us, names are just labels.
对我们多数人来说，名字只是一个标签。
40. We name children to distinguish them from each other.
我们给孩子起名，是为了把他们区分开来。
41. Names are something our parents have given us;
名字是我们的父母给我们的；
42. but, to the people of God, names were not just labels.
但是对于神的子民，名字不仅仅是标签。
43. Names expressed the entire reputation of the person;
名字表达了一个人的全部名誉；
44. and it is the same way when you are talking about the name of God.
当你谈论上帝之名的时候，也是一样的。
45. God’s name reveals who He is.
神的名显明了祂是谁。
46. His name reveals His identity, His character, and His personality.
神的名显示了祂的身分，祂的特质，和祂的性格。
47. In Bible times, they did not worry so much about nice-sounding names.
在圣经时代，人们不在意名字好听不好听。
48. Names were given to children to indicate the direction of their lives;
给孩子起名，直接显示出了孩子们的人生方向；
49. and where did the people of God learn to give their children names which reveals their character?
神的子民给孩子们起一个显示他们特征的名字，是从哪里学来的呢？
50. They learned it from God,
他们是跟神学的，
51. because God’s name reveals who He is;
因为神的名显明了祂是谁；
52. therefore, they gave their children names that they hoped would reveal what they want them to be.
因此，他们给孩子们起的名，要显示出他们对孩子未来的期望。
53. I want to tell you why it is so important not to misuse the name of the Lord.
我想告诉你：“不可妄称耶和华神的名”之所以如此重要，
54. Because the name of the Lord is holy;
因为神的名是圣洁的；
55. and to misuse His name is to desecrate why He is holy.
妄称神的名就是玷污祂的圣洁。
56. Because the name of the Lord is worthy;
因为神的名是宝贵的；
57. and taking that name lightly means that you are saying that God is worthless.
随意谈论神的名，意味着你在说，神的名没有价值。
58. That is why it is so important.
这就是为什么这一点如此重要。
59. You may be wondering how a believer could misuse the name of the Lord.
你可能无法想象，作为一个信徒怎么会妄称神的名呢？
60. I will share with you three ways in which believers sometimes misuse the name of God.
我从三个方面与你谈谈，信徒有时也会妄称神的名。
61. First is perjury.
第一是伪证；
62. Secondly, intimidation;
第二是威胁；
63. and, thirdly, casualness in the use of the name of the Lord.
第三，随随便便地使用神的名。
64. Let me start with perjury.
让我先从伪证开始讲起。
65. What do I mean by “perjury?”
我所说的“伪证”是指什么呢？
66. When someone takes an oath to tell the truth and then lies, that’s perjury;
当有人起誓说他要讲实话，过后却说了谎话，那就是“伪证”；
67. and it is a serious offense against a holy God;
那是对圣洁的神很严重的冒犯；
68. and God will not hold guiltless those who take His name in vain or misuse His name.
有人徒然使用神的名或者妄称神的名，耶和华必不以他为无罪。
69. The Lord Jesus Christ gives us a wonderful example of honesty under oath in Matthew 26:63.
在马太福音26章63节，主耶稣基督给了我们一个关于发誓讲实话的典范，
70. The high priest asked Jesus,
大祭司问耶稣，
71. “I charge you under oath, by the living God, tell us if you are the Christ, the Son of God.”
我指着永生神，叫你起誓告诉我们，你是神的儿子基督不是。
72. Jesus could have kept quiet.
耶稣可以保持沈默。
73. He knew that telling the truth under oath would take Him to the cross;
祂早知道起誓说出实情，会把自己送上十字架；
74. but here’s what Jesus said:
可是耶稣却说：
75. “Yes, it is as you say.”
“你说的是。”
76. Jesus knew that His blazing integrity in declaring who He is would take Him to the cross;
耶稣明白，祂至诚至真地宣告祂是谁，会把祂送上十字架；
77. and, so, Jesus is saying to us, if your life depends on it, tell the truth;
因此，耶稣的意思是，即使生死攸关，仍然要讲实话；
78. but misuse of the name of the Lord takes place not only by perjury,
妄称神的名，不仅仅只发生在作“伪证”这一方面，
79. but, secondly, when believers try to intimidate each other, this is breaking the great Commandments.
第二，当信徒尝试着互相威胁，这就违反了这条大诫命。
80. You say, “How does this happen?”
你可能说： “怎么会这样呢？”
81. It happens when people try to speak for God.
当人们试图替神说话的时候，它就会发生。
82. They claim to be spokesmen for God;

83. but, my listening friends, please listen very carefully.

84. This is not from God.
这不是从神而来。
85. Do you know why?

86. Because God spoke once and for all in His book, the Bible.
因为神曾说的和所有的话语都在圣经里。
87. People claiming to speak for God uses God’s name to manipulate people.
人们自称替神说话，就是使用神的名来操纵别人。
88. They use the name of God for personal gain.
他们使用神的名来获取私利。
89. That is breaking the Third Commandment.
这就是在违背第三条诫命。
90. Not only perjury is misuse of the name of the Lord,
不仅作“伪证”是妄称神的名，
91. not only using the name of the Lord to intimidate people is misusing the name of the Lord,
不仅用神的名威胁别人，是妄称神的名，
92. but, thirdly, casualness in the use of the name of the Lord is misuse of the name of the Lord.
而且，第三，随意地滥用神的名，也是妄称神的名。
93. People use profanity as a crutch;
人们随意亵渎神，就好像那是一根拐杖似的；
94. and, then, they say, “Well, I didn’t really mean that.
然后，他们说：“噢，我不是说真的。
95. I was just angry and I did not know what I was saying...”
我正在气头上，我不知道自己都说了些什么……”
96. but, please listen carefully, my listening friend.
但是，亲爱的朋友，请仔细听。
97. To curse someone in God’s name is a terrible misuse of the name of God,
用神的名咒诅别人，就是妄称神的名，是非常可怕的，
98. whether you claim that you meant it or not.
无论你自称有意还是无意。
99. Jesus said,
耶稣说：
100. “From the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks...”
“因为心里所充满的，口里就说出来……”
101. and that is why God’s Word says
这就是为什么，神的话语这样说，
102. you cannot misuse His name and get away with it,
你不可能妄称神的名，而逃避后果，
103. for the Lord will not hold him guiltless who takes His name in vain.
因为妄称耶和华名的，耶和华必不以他为无罪。
104. There are some people who use the name of the Lord for their own advantage.
有些人为了自己的好处而滥用神的名。
105. In fact, the Bible gives us an example of a family who tried to use the name of Jesus to advance themselves.
事实上，圣经给了我们一个例子，是一个家庭为了他们自己的好处，而滥用耶稣之名。
106. It is in the Book of Acts, Chapter 19, beginning at verse 14.
是在使徒行传19章，从14节开始，
107. In Ephesus, there was a man who was the chief priest of the synagogue.
在以弗所，有一个人是会堂的祭司长。
108. This man’s name was Sceva;
这人的名字叫士基瓦；
109. and the Bible tells us that he had seven sons.
圣经告诉我们他有七个儿子。
110. When Paul arrived in Ephesus, he began to preach the Gospel in the power of the name of Jesus.
当保罗来到以弗所后，靠耶稣之名的能力开始宣讲福音，
111. He was healing the sick in the power of the name of Jesus.
他靠耶稣之名的能力医治病人。
112. He was baptizing people in the name of Jesus.
他奉耶稣之名为人施洗。
113. He was casting out demons in the power of the name of Jesus;
他靠耶稣之名的权柄为人赶鬼；
114. and the Ephesians saw and experienced the power of the name of Jesus like very few cities around that time;
所以就像那个时候周围极少的几个城市一样，以弗所人看见并经历了耶稣之名的大能；
115. and among those who were watching Paul from a distance were the seven sons of Sceva;
在这些人中，远远观看保罗作为的，就有士基瓦的七个儿子；
116. and they were taking notice that Paul would say, “In the name of Jesus,” and things would happen;

117. and so the sons of Sceva said, “If we can mimic Paul and use the same words that Paul uses,

118. then we will have power and people will notice us.”

119. So what did they do?

120. They went to cast out a demon from a demon-possessed man.
他们去为一个被鬼附的人赶鬼。
121. They said, “In the name of Jesus, whom Paul preaches, come out.”
他们说：“我奉保罗所传的耶稣，勅令你们出来。”
122. Demons, as you may know, believe and tremble at the name of Jesus;
你可能知道，魔鬼是相信并惧怕耶稣之名的；
123. but this demon spoke through the man he was possessing,
但这个恶鬼借着它所附的人说话，
124. and he said, “Jesus I know. Paul I know, but who are you?”
他说：“耶稣我认识，保罗我也知道。你们却是谁呢？”
125. and then he jumps on them and he gives them the beating of their life.
然后，恶鬼所附的人就跳在他们身上，重重地打了他们一顿。
126. In fact, the Bible said they ran out naked and they were bleeding from head to toe.
事实上，圣经说他们从头到脚都受了伤，赤着身子逃走了。
127. After this episode with Sceva, the Bible said that the name of Jesus was lifted high,
在士基瓦的这一幕结束后，圣经说主耶稣的名从此就尊大了，
128. not only in Ephesus, but throughout the whole area.
不仅在以弗所，而是遍及了整个的地区。
129. Why?
为什么呢？
130. Because there is power in the name of the Lord,
因为那是主耶稣之名的大能，
131. and you cannot exploit it to your own advantage without a heavy consequence.
所以你不可能藉神的名擅自谋取私利，却不受到严重的后果。
132. Well, some of you may be asking, “How, then, do we properly use the name of the Lord?”
你们中的有些人可能会问：“那么，我们该怎样正确地使用神的名呢？”
133. There are three ways in which you can honor the name of the Lord.
有三种方式，你能荣耀神的名。
134. First,
第一，
135. you must recognize the incredible relationship that God has with you.
你一定要意识到，神与你有极奇妙的亲密关系。
136. You have to focus on that.
你必须专注在这上面。
137. You have to spend time to know what it means for the God of the universe to reach down to you and say to you, “I love you. I want you to spend time with Me.
你必须花时间弄明白，为什么宇宙的主宰要接近你，并对你说：“我爱你，我希望你有时间和我在一起。
138. I want you to know Me.”
我希望你能认识我。”
139. The Creator of the universe wants you to know Him;

140. and, when you come to Him,

141. He puts His arm around you and says, “You are My child.

142. I have redeemed you.

143. I desire to give you power that’s in My name, but you have got to know Me first.

144. You can’t just use My name.”

145. To know God is to be overwhelmed with His grace.
认识神就是被祂的恩典征服。
146. Secondly,
第二，
147. you must recognize His presence all the time.
你必须意识到，神每时每刻的同在。
148. Even non-believers would say God is everywhere;
就连不信的人也会说，神是无处不在的；
149. but I’m talking of you being conscious of the fact that He is with you everywhere you may go,
但我所说的是，你该意识到一个事实，就是无论你去到哪里，祂都与你同在，
150. watching your every moment of every day.
每时每刻都看顾着你。
151. The third thing I want to tell you is to recognize the power of the tongue.
第三，我想告诉你，要意识到舌头的能力。
152. If you have a problem praising the name of God,
如果你很难赞美神的名，
153. then there must be a problem in your life.
那么，你的生命一定出了问题。
154. If you have a problem praising God,
如果你很难赞美神，
155. then there is something wrong with your relationship with God;
那么你与神的关系一定出了问题；
156. so watch the power of the tongue,
所以要注意舌头的力量，
157. because the tongue that praises the name of the Lord,
因为舌头可能赞美神的名，
158. the tongue that honors the name of the Lord,
舌头可以荣耀神的名，
159. the tongue that glorifies the name of the Lord,
舌头可以颂扬神的名，
160. the tongue that treasures the name of the Lord,
舌头可以推崇神的名，
161. the tongue that protects the reputation of the name of the Lord
舌头可以保护上帝之名不至蒙羞。
162. is the very tongue that invites the blessing of the power of the name of the Lord.
正是这舌头，为你带来上帝之名的赐福。
