3. Today, I’ll share with you secret number ten.
4. One thing that makes the Christian faith unique is its paradoxical nature.
5. None of the other religions or philosophical schools of thought can even compare to it.
6. In fact, that is the one reason why so many people stumble over the Christian message.
7. One of the greatest paradoxes of all is that the Creator of the whole universe becomes a man.
8. And from this paradox, all other paradoxes are born.
9. For example, the Bible says that if you want to be strong, you have to surrender.
10. If you want happiness, you must be willing to mourn.
11. And today’s tenth secret of positive living is one of those clear paradoxes.
12. It is getting through giving.
13. Like all paradoxes, this one runs contrary to the norm.
14. For example, the natural mind says if you want to acquire possessions, then you must grab for everything you can get.
15. The natural mind says if you want to get ahead, then you must be willing to step on other people.
16. That’s exactly how the natural mind operates.
17. But in the supernatural, the Bible tells us the secret for receiving is giving.
18. Look at this foundational verse in 2 Corinthians chapter 8 verse 9.
19. “For we know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sakes, He became poor,
20. so that you, through His poverty, might become rich.”
21. Everything Paul says in chapter 8 and part of chapter 9 is built on this one verse.
22. I know there are some people who view giving as an obligation or a duty.
我知道有些人认为,付出是一种义务和责任;
23. Others still view giving as a chore.
24. But Jesus tells us that giving is what activates God’s pipeline to bring us His blessings.
25. Jesus said in Luke chapter 6 verse 38,
26. “Give, and it will be given to you. They will pour into your lap a good measure; pressed down, shaken together and running over. For by your standard measure, it will be measured to you in return.”
27. It is like going to the market to buy grain.
28. If the merchant is dishonest, he will use the container with a false bottom.
29. They will give you less than the proper amount.
30. But if you find a generous merchant,
31. he will not only use an accurate container,
32. but he will pack in the grain and let it overflow at the top.
33. And that is the essence of giving sacrificially.
34. Generous giving results in greater giving from God.
35. It is impossible to out give God.
36. Remember this—
37. if you have a false bottom in your measurement by which you give,

43. And when they don’t see an immediate blessing coming from God,
44. they begin to get mad at God and at the preacher.
45. They say, “You said that if I give, then I can get.”

48. Anyone who thinks that giving to God is like using a slot machine in a casino will be very disappointed.
49. Paul tells the Corinthians that the Macedonians gave joyfully.
50. The Macedonians had confidence in God’s promise that He will supply all their needs.
51. And this allowed them to give generously.
52. The Macedonians refused to allow their poverty to smother their generosity.
53. And Paul said that they were a role model for Christian giving.
54. Where did the Macedonians get the idea of generous giving regardless of their circumstances?
55. We find the answer in 2 Corinthians chapter 8 verse 9.
